Six-year-old boy killed when he was hit by car in housing estate

The young boy was pronounced dead at St Luke's hospital Kilkenny this evening.

A six-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a car this evening.

Gardai in Kilkenny are investigating the fatal accident which occurred at Lintown Grove, Lintown Hall - a housing estate on the outskirts of Kilkenny city.

The collision happened at around 6.30pm.

The little boy was rushed to St Luke's hospital in Kilkenny where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem is due to take place tomorrow.

The driver of the car, a female in her 40s - the only occupant of the car - was uninjured in the incident.

The road has been closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination.
