Shooting victim (43) was 'visiting a friend' when he was targeted in front garden of house
A man is in a serious condition in hospital this morning after being shot at a house in Ballyfermot.
The man, who is aged 42, was targeted on Raheen Drive in the Cherry Orchard area shortly after 9pm last night.
He was rushed to hospital where his injuries were described as serious, but not believed to be life threatening.
The scene has been preserved pending a forensic examination by members of the garda technical bureau.
Gardai sealed off the house as well as a large van across the road from it.
It is suspected the gunman or gunmen may have concealed themselves behind this van, which was innocently parked on Raheen Drive, and shot the man from the roadway.
The victim does not live at the house where the shooting occurred, but was believed to be visiting a friend at the time when he was targeted in the front garden.
Bloodstains could be seen in the driveway of the house as Gardai continued to work the scene this morning.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Gardai.
