Shocking moment fishermen scramble off boat before capsize horror

Three anglers had a lucky escape at the weekend when they managed to scramble to nearby rocks off the Co Antrim coast before their boat capsized.

Coleraine Coastguard and Portrush Inshore Lifeboat were involved rescuing the men’s motorboat which broke down and became submerged in a heavy swell at Ramore Head, Portrush on Saturday.

They posted dramatic pictures of the boat sinking before it was secured by a lifeboat team, who managed to tow the half-submerged craft to Portrush Harbour, where it was recovered at the slipway by Coastguard and lifeboat assistance.

“Appropriate safety advice was given by the Coastguard Team,” the spokesperson added.

The boat was brought back to the harbour in Portrush.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said the men were able to walk to safety as luckily they were close enough to the shore to escape from their stricken boat.
