Several shots fired at man in car at Dublin housing estate

A shooting has taken place in a housing estate in Co Dublin tonight.

The incident took place shortly after 7pm at Rathbeale Crescent in Swords.

Several shots were fired at a car - in which a man was sitting - in the estate.

The target of the shooting - who is know to gardai - is believed to be uninjured following the attack.

A source said: "Around five or six bullets were fired at this man but they all missed.

"The suspected target is known to gardai."

The target ran from the car when the shooting began and is "lucky to have escaped alive", another source told independent.ie.

Our exclusive pictures reveal the damage to the target's car in the incident.

No statements have been made to gardaí by the suspected target at this stage.

A Black Audi was later found on fire on the back roads near Dublin Airport.

It is believed that this car was used in the shooting.
