SEVEN fishermen had to be rescued from their vessel after it ran aground in county Cork tonight.
The fishing boat got into difficulties after it is believed to have collided with rocks as it was attempting to enter union Hall harbour around 9.20pm this evening.
The seven men on-board, including the Irish skipper, were able to raise the alarm. Union Hall lifeboat, Toe Head/Glandore coast guard unit and the coat guard helicopter Rescue 115 were all tasked to respond to the distress signal.
A spokesman for the coast guard said the Union Hall lifeboat were the first to get to the vessel and brought the seven men ashore.
One man was suffering with abdominal pain and was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH).
The six other fishermen were said to be all well following the ordeal and did not require medical assistance.
