Revenue have seized wine, beer, spirits and tobacco worth €6,000 at Dublin Port.

The 204 litres of alcohol, 1.9 kg of tobacco branded “Chesterfield” and 1,600 “L&M” cigarettes were found in two transit vans which arrived separately into Dublin Port from France and Holyhead.

The vans were searched, based on routine profiling and the drivers, a 39-year-old Polish man, and a 35-year-old Lithuanian man, were questioned.

The seized goods have a total retail value of around €6,300, representing an estimated potential loss to the Exchequer of €4,250.

These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of alcohol and tobacco products in the shadow economy.
