Rescue teams rush to airlift injured climber (40s) from remote area of Mount Leinster
A rescue operation has been launched after a man came into difficulty whilst climbing Mount Leinster this evening.
A helicopter from the Waterford coastguard, the South-East Mountain Rescue team and ambulance units assisted the man.
It is understood the man, who is in his 40s, raised the alarm after sustaining a leg fracture injury in a remote part of the mountain which borders Carlow and Wexford.
The rescue teams are moved the injured man in order to hoist him into a helicopter.
He has been taken to Waterford Hospital for treatment.
