Remains of boat which carried tragic coast guard hero Caitriona is recovered from sea

The remains of the boat which carried the heroic coastguard member who died during a rescue mission have been recovered.

The 8m Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) capsized when Caitriona Lucas, James Lucey and Jenny Carway were returning from a search on Monday.

Caitriona died during the incident.

This morning a crane and contracted climbers were on the scene to lift the boat to shore.

Coastguard members on scene said the remains of the boat showed the dangerous impact that the sea can have.

A blackbox and the navigation systems in the boat have been recovered and will now be examined as part of the investigations into Monday's tragic incident.

The Marine Causalties investigation Board, who will conduct one of the investigations was on site in Kilkee this morning.
