Record numbers of runners are gathering to take part in the Dublin Marathon this morning.

Thousands of participants and spectators are gathering at Fitzwilliam Square.

First to set off is the wheelchair race at 8.55am.

A number of roads will be closed to facilitate the Dublin Marathon today, with Merrion Square closed to traffic until 9pm.

This may be the last year the marathon is held on the October Bank Holiday Monday.
