Pictured: Church destroyed after major blaze causes significant damage
A Dublin church faces a major refurbishment and clean up operation after a major fire broke out last night.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Huntstown Way in Clonsilla suffered serious damage following the devastating blaze.
Gardai are investigating the circumstances of the incident, but are not treating it as suspicious.
It is believed the fire was sparked by a light fitting towards the rear of the church, at around 1.30am on Thursday morning.
Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin visited the church with local parish priests and gardai to survey damage earlier today.
It is not yet known how much parish representatives will have to pay for repairs, or how long it could take to re-open the premises.
