Pedestrian (31) killed after being struck by car on motorway

A 31-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car in Co Wicklow.

The pedestrian was fatally injured when he was hit on the M11 at Roscath shortly before 1030pm last night.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Loughlinstown hospital for post-mortem examination.

The scene is currently preserved for forensic examination.

Diversions are in place on the southbound carriageway of the M11 between Junctions 18 (Wicklow South) and 19 (Brittas bay).

Northbound traffic is unaffected.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wicklow Garda Station on 0404-60140 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
