Opel to fix fire-risk cars 'for free'
Opel will not charge owners of fire-risk Zafiras who had non-General Motors parts fitted to heating/ventilation systems.
A spokeswoman told the Irish Independent that if a faulty part is found in any Zafira B, they will replace it "for free".
And anyone who is driving a Vauxhall here, or who imported one from the UK, will also have parts fitted without charge if a faulty element is discovered.
Opel is advising drivers concerned about using their car, or who notice anything unusual such as a squeaking noise from the dashboard, to have their vehicles inspected at their dealership.
Eight out of 8,000 Zafira B vehicles bought here between 2005 and 2014 have so far been affected by the fault.
