Olly Murs has paid tribute to Nicola Kenny, the young Irish mum killed so tragically in an incident on the M8 last week.
Kenny had just given birth to her first child and the car she was travelling in had pulled in to the hard shoulder so she could take a call from Temple Street about her child, who had been hospitalised.
They pulled into the hard shoulder of the M8 motorway to take the call, which was the good news that little baby Lily-Rose was recovering well and was about to be transferred back to Clonmel hospital where she was born.
It was just after the phone conversation ended when a truck smashed into the back of the car, killing Nicola, who was in the back seat and injuring her mother and aunt.
Since her tragic death her friends had been in touch with Murs on social media to explain to him how big a fan Nicola was of him and asking him to pay tribute to the 26-year-old Tipp native.
The #OllyForNicola hashtag began and the friends of Nicola who started the campaign got in touch with as many big names as they could to highlight their campaign.
Today, it paid off.
On Tuesday morning Murs posted these tweets:
So sad to hear one of my biggest fans @NicolaKenny1990 has died!R.I.P Babe— Olly Murs (@ollyofficial) September 13, 2016
My love & thoughts got out to her Family & close friends at this tragic time— Olly Murs (@ollyofficial) September 13, 2016
The reaction from those behind the campaign was happiness at getting a special tribute paid to Nicola.
