Off-duty graduate garda disarms raider after he had gun pointed at him

An off-duty garda had a gun pointed at him after he walked in on an armed robbery in progress yesterday in Dublin 7.
The recently graduated officer walked into the convenience store on the Otxmanstown Road, Dublin 7 yesterday afternoon just before 1.30pm when the robbery was talking place.
The officer identified himself as a garda and was then threatened at at gunpoint by the raider.
However, the off-duty Garda confronted the raider, successfully disarmed him and continued to restrain him until local Gardaí arrived.
A man is due to to be charged with the armed robbery this morning.
A firearm has been seized and will be forensically examined. A large kitchen knife was also recovered at the scene.
