Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in a house in North Belfast.

The victim, in his 30s, was found at the property in Glenpark Street shortly before 10.30 on Thursday night.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place.

PSNI senior investigator Detective Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Glenpark Street yesterday afternoon or last night and who witnessed anything suspicious or anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation to contact detectives."

Police have imposed a security cordon around the red brick terraced house where the man's body was found.

Neighbour Martin McAuley said: "It is a desperate situation for the family."
