Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae does not fear a repeat robbery at his family home in Kilgarvan, Co Kerry.
In fact, he has fired a warning shot to the perpetrators with the statement: “Call again to me when I’m home”.
The home of the controversial TD was robbed last week as thieves broke into their house in broad daylight.
His wife Eileen returned to her home at lunchtime on Friday July 25 to discover raiders had gained entry.
Although Mrs Healy-Rae didn't recognise the men, it is believed that the people were privy to the fact that Healy-Rae lived there.
The politician, youngest son of Jackie Healy-Rae, told Kerry’s Eye newspaper that his invitation for the robbers to return “did not need to be decoded”.
“In the 54 years since the house was built by my mother and father there never was a break-in. So why did they target the house while I was away.”
When Mrs Healy-Rae disturbed the men at her home, they pushed past her and made their escape in a vehicle gardai believe to be a silver 4x4 vehicle.
The South Kerry TD has a passion for game shooting and is in favour of homeowners guarding their properties with arms.
The burglary is the latest in a spate of break ins in the south Kerry area and the local garda station was one of nine in that county that closed last year.
