This local politician had the perfect response after a nasty comment was spray-painted on a local wall.
Waterford city mayor John Hearne was going for a run early on Tuesday morning when he spotted "F**k the pig's [sic], F**k John Hearne" written in red letters across from his home.
The politician took to Facebook to vent his fury at the graffiti artist. But his response was not quite what you'd expect.
Cllr Hearne wrote: "Imagine how sad you would have to be to have to crawl around in the dark to paint this.
"You can see this type in court crying to the judge because they weren't breast fed and the mammy's on heorin every week.
"Not to like me is one thing but anybody who saw the film babe must love pigs."
Cllr Hearne has reported the graffiti incident to gardaí and has already arranged to have it removed.
He told independent.ie that a number of relatives are members of An Garda Síochana.
This is not the first time he has been targeted in his estate.
In February 2014 a car belonging to him was petrol bombed by a local gang.
In April of this year Cllr Hearne spoke out after a family home in Waterford was daubed in racist graffiti.
Thugs scrawled “black c**ts” several times across front door of Meriam Ajayi’s home in Ballybeg.
The distraught mum-of-two (45) said this is the fourth attack that her family was subjected to.
Cllr Hearne described the incident as a "vile racist attack".
“We don’t have it in Waterford and we should put it down at the first sign of it."
