A feud or personal dispute is believed to be behind a violent attack on a man in Tallaght after his car was rammed off the road by a gang of men.

The shocking incident happened at Killinarden Heights at 9am on Tuesday morning when a car in which a driver and two other men were travelling deliberately rammed the car being driven by the victim.

After being crashed into, the man in the targeted car tried to reverse away but in turn crashed into a parked car in his panic to get away from his attackers.

Three men wearing balaclavas are then reported to have got out of the first car and chased the victim on foot to a green area where he was physically assaulted with what is believed to be a baseball bat.

The three attackers then fled in their car.

The victim received medical treatment but has declined to make a complaint on the matter.

A car was found on fire in the nearby Cushlawn Walk area and Gardai believe it is the car the three man gang escaped in.

One of the cars involved in the incident was an orange Fiat Punto, the second vehicle was a red Mitsubishi Spacewagon.

Gardai in Tallaght are investigating the matter.
