Man suffers spinal injuries after falling into mountain ravine

A man has been airlifted to hospital this morning after being rescued from the Comeragh Mountains.

The man had been camping with a friend in the Mahon Falls area last night.

He suffered spinal and shoulder injuries when he fell into a ravine in the early hours of this morning.

The Coastguard helicopter was dispatched to help take the man to University Hospital Waterford.

Mountain rescue, the HSE and gardai were also involved in this morning's rescue.

Spokesperson for the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Assocation, Jimmy Barry, said it was "a good result".
