Two men have been arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery near a Co Dublin supermarket.

The incident occurred in Balgaddy, Lucan, at around 2pm yesterday afternoon.

A man was sitting in his van outside the store when the two men threatened him with a suspected gun and demanded cash.

The two men left the scene in a Ford Mondeo car, which was later abandoned in a nearby residential area, Esker Lane.

Gardai carried out a search of the area and the two men were arrested some time later.

They are both currently detained at Lucan Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-'98 as amended.

The proceeds of the robbery - and a firearm - have been recovered.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
