Man rushed to hospital after 'golf club' attack in Dublin city centre

A man suffered serious injuries when he was beaten with a implement, believed to be a golf club, in Dublin this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Seville Place at 2pm after locals discovered the man with serious injuries.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

A source said the incident was not feud related and gardaí are examining if the attack was linked to a domestic dispute.

The assault was witnessed by a number of locals and gardaí have appealed for anyone with footage of the attack to contact them.

No arrests have been made.
