Man out walking killed in early morning road crash

A male pedestrian (63) has been killed after being struck by a car early this morning.

The incident happened this morning at 1.55am in Durrus Co. Cork.

The man was hit by 4x4 vehicle on Kilcrohane Road (L4704), Durrus. He was treated at the scene where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

His body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination

The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place. The scene will be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators later this morning.
