Man hospitalised after violent stabbing on busy Dublin city street in broad daylight

A man has been hospitalised after a violent stabbing in Dublin’s city centre close to one of the capital’s busiest streets.

The victim was socialising in a pub on Bachelors Walk- near O’Connell Street- when he became involved in a row with another man, believed to be a close associate.

He was subsequently stabbed a number of times in the leg and back. Gardai attended the scene, and the injured man was rushed to the Mater Hospital, where his injuries have been described as non-life threatening.

A garda spokesperson said that the incident occurred at approximately 12:30pm, and that officers from Store Street garda station are investigating the incident.

A man was arrested close to the scene, and is being detained at Store Street garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
