Man 'fighting for his life' after he was rescued from the River Liffey

A MAN is fighting for his life tonight after he was rescued from the Liffey.

Dublin Fire Brigade were alerted to the scene of a man drowning close to the North Wall in Dublin City Centre at about 6:30pm this evening.

The man was lifted from the river and was understood to have suffered a heart attack.

He was treated on scene and was understood to have not been breathing.

Members of the advanced paramedic team successfully resuscitated the man who was then rushed to the Mater Hospital.

He is understood to be in a critical condition.
