The incident occurred around 4am in Buncrana, Donegal on August 28.

Gardai had been in pursuit of the individual after he accessed the one-way street.

After the driver crashed into a wall on Ferris Lane, he attempted to flee the scene but collided with the garda car.

Due to the damage done to the vehicle, he was unable to get away.

He then tried to escape on foot but was arrested by gardai.

The man tested positive for alcohol and was over the legal limit.

As well as the car having no tax, NCT or insurance, the man was not in possession of a driving licence.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Garda Superintendent McGovern of Buncrana Garda Station says the matter is currently under investigation.
