Man dies after workplace fall at cement factory

A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Waterford earlier today.

It's understood that the man, who was in his late 20s, fell from a height at a cement plant earlier this afternoon.

The incident occurred at O'Brien's Cement in Belview Port just outside of Waterford city.

The scene remains sealed off this evening. 

Gardai from Waterford and the Health and Safety Authority have launched separate investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased is believed to be from New Ross, Co Wexford. Locals said he was a father-of-three.

His remains have been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a postmortem is due to take place.
