Man attacked by hammer-welding gang as he left cemetery

A man has been assaulted with a hammer as he left a cemetery in west Belfast.

The attack occurred at the City Cemetery on Thursday April 21, police said. The matter has only been publicised now.

The victim's path was blocked by a number of masked men in a Hyundai car. Three assailants got out of the vehicle and attacked him.

He was treated in hospital for leg injuries.

Police appealed for anybody who witnessed the incident at around 2.30 in the afternoon to contact them.
