Man arrested following seizure of cocaine worth €770k at Dublin Port this morning
Cocaine with a street value of €770,000 was seized at Dublin Port this morning.
One man (51) was arrested after the drugs were discovered during a search.
The operation was part of a joint operation by customs officers and gardai.
The discovery of 11 kilos of cocaine was made following the interception of a truck which had just arrived at the port from the Netherlands.
A statement issued by the Customs Service said: "On the 24th December, 2015, as part of an intelligence led joint operation between Officers of the Revenue Commissioners Customs Service and the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau of An Garda Siochana , approximately 11 kilos of Cocaine with an estimated street value in excess of €770,000 was seized, following the interception of a haulage vehicle that had just arrived at Dublin Port from the Holland."
The 51-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking offences and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
