Man (50s) suffered serious head injuries in city centre attack

A man (50s) has been seriously injured in a city centre assault.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses following the incident in Limerick city on Wednesday evening shortly before 8pm. 

It is understood the injured party was in an altercation with another man who then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to University Hospital Limerick and has since been moved to Cork University Hospital.

CCTV footage is currently being reviewed as part of the investigation.

There have been no arrests as yet.
