Gardai have been granted more time to question a man arrested in connection with the murder of Kenneth O'Brien.
Mr O'Brien (33) - originally from Ballyfermot in Dublin - was fatally shot once in the head and his body dismembered.
His torso was placed in a suitcase and dumped in the Grand Canal at Ardclough in Co Kildare.
Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 50s, were arrested on February 6 in connection with the murder investigation.
The older man remains in custody and gardai are continuing to question him.
The younger man was released without charge this morning and a file will now be prepared for the information of The Director of Public Prosecutions.
