Man (44) killed after car collided with a concrete column

A man has died after his car collided with a concrete column.

The male driver (44) was fatally injured in the single-vehicle incident, which happened at around 3.10pm on the M8 motorway just past junction 7 southbound in Ballyknock in Cashel, Co Tipperary. 

He was the only occupant in his car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His remains were brought to Waterford Regional Hospital, where a post mortem will take place.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has now reopened.

Gardaí wish to appeal for any witnesses to contact them at Cashel Garda Station on 062 - 75840, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
