Man (23) arrested in connection with the murder of DJ Leo Carolan
A man has been arrested over the gruesome murder of a popular DJ stabbed to death in a house earlier this week.
Leo Carolan (25) died after he was assaulted on the South Circular Road on Tuesday.
A second man, Swiss national Ludovic Thomas, survived the attack but was rushed to hospital with serious knife injuries.
Now gardaí have confirmed that a man (23) has been arrested in connection with the murder.
He was arrested after stepping off a ferry on Saturday afternoon and is currently being questioned in Kevin Street garda station.
In a statement gardaí said: "Gardaí at Kevin St investigating the death of a man on the South Circular Road on Tuesday have this afternoon arrested a 23 year old man in connection with this investigation.
"The man was arrested in Dublin city. He is currently detained at Kevin Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984."
Gardaí had been probing whether the killer may have dumped his blood-soaked tee-shirt in a nearby rubbish bin after the Tuesday bloodbath.
It also emerged emerged earlier this week that the suspected killer may have bought shoes in a charity shop after the savage slaying.
Detectives spent a number of hours in hospital earlier this week interviewing Swiss national Ludovic Thomas.
However, it is understood he does not to know a third man officers had sought in relation to the attack.
The victim, Mr Carolan, was living in the apartment for some time after returning from France.
He studied Anthropology at Universite Lumiere in Lyon before continuing his education in Creative Music Production at IADT in Dun Laoghaire. He was also a budding DJ.
Supt Pat McMenamin from Kevin Street Garda Station said detectives were "anxious" to locate a third individual seen leaving the property.
"There was a third person at the scene that we are anxious to locate, and we would ask that person to make contact with us," he said.
"We believe that person has crucial information to this investigation that will assist us.
"That person is described as a man in his mid-20s, around 5ft 6ins in height, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and runners.
"He had fair or reddish hair that was cut short and may have been carrying a bag," Supt McMenamin said.
"A full murder investigation has been established and an incident room set up in Kevin Street."
