Man (20s) dies after car leaves road and strikes ditch in early morning crash

A man in his twenties has died in a single vehicle crash early this morning.

The man, who was a passenger in the car, died after the vehicle left the road and crashed on the R511, Fedamore - Limerick Road at Carnane, Limerick at 2am.

He was pronounced dead at scene.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, received minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick. No other injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

The man who died is the 12th person to be killed on Limerick roads so far this year.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the R511 close to Fedamore between 1am and 2.20am this morning, Tuesday 4th October 2016 is asked to contact them at Roxboro Road Garda station on 061 214340, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
