Man (20s) arrested in relation to death of 37-year-old following vicious assault

A man has been arrested in relation to the death of a 37-year-old man, who died following a vicious attack.

Vincent Morgain sustained serious injuries in the incident that occurred on Cork's Oliver Plunkett Street last Thursday afternoon.

It is understood that Morgain was a homeless man and that a fight had broken out, witnessed by a number of people.

He died at the Mercy Hospital in Cork on Tuesday five days after the attack.

The arrested Cork man - who is aged in his 20s - is currently detained at Bridewell garda station.
