A major search underway for a man missing in north Donegal has been stood down for the night.

It followed the discovery of items of clothing along the shoreline at the Isle of Doagh on the Inishowen Peninsula.

RNLI units from Buncrana and Coast Guard personnel from Greencastle were searching the water and the shoreline.

It's understood they are looking for a man in his 50s from County Derry who had been camping in the area.

The Rescue 118 helicopter from Sligo also assisted in the search.
