'Love/Hate' star Laurence Kinlan was one of the well-known stars to tee off at the 13th Ronnie Whelan Golf Classic in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, yesterday.
Kinlan, who plays the part of Elmo in RTE's gangland drama, joined actor Simon Delaney, 'Voice of Ireland' coach Niall Breslin, rugby star Shane Byrne and TV presenter Brian Ormond on the putting greens at Powerscourt Golf Club.
The annual charity event raises funds for charities Myaware, The Marie Keating Foundation and Cari.
The event has raised in the region of €200,000 over the last 13 years.
In 2005, former Ireland and Liverpool footballer Ronnie Whelan, far right, was dealt a blow when his daughter Elizabeth was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) at the age of 18, an autoimmune disease which causes severe muscle weakness.
"The good news is that Elizabeth is now making progress in her battle with MG. By raising funds we may help doctors and researchers to find a cure," said Whelan.
