Lotto winner: I was counting coins from my jars for holidays when I found out I won €500,000
A Dublin man was counting coins from his two money jars when he discovered he won half a million euro on the Lottery.
The man was saving his coins in two jars ahead of his holidays to the US.
As he was counting his euros, he received news that he'd won €500,000 in the National Lottery's Daily Million Plus game.
The lucky winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought his €6 Quick Pick ticket for the Daily Millions draws on the National Lottery's website lottery.ie on April 22nd last.
The man didn't check the winning numbers and forgot all about it until he received a message from the National Lottery reminding him to check his account - then he discovered he was half a million euro richer.

He collected his cheque from the National Lottery Offices in Dublin today.
"I'd been saving coins in two jars for a year to go towards a trip to the US to visit a friend, and I was counting them when I got the message from the Lottery. I couldn’t believe it when I logged-in to my online account and saw all those zeros," he smiled.
"The bills had been piling up and I was considering getting a loan to make things easier – then this happened!
"You always hope that it will happen to you, but you don’t really think it will. It’s like a great dream that I haven’t woken up from. For me, this is a chance to make things better – a chance to make a good life!"
Separately, last night's mid-week Lotto draw saw two winners of the €5.8m Lotto jackpot.
The tickets were bought in Dublin and online.
