'Linkedin is falling short on privacy standards'

Ireland's data protection commissioner says that Linkedin is falling short when it comes to privacy standards for its 89 million European users.
Helen Dixon said that Linkedin had yet to fully implement recommendations from a privacy audit completed by her office last year.
"The majority of the recommendations have been accepted by Linkedin, but there are one or two areas where we don't think the service meets a 'best practice' compliance level," she said.
She declined to specify the specific privacy issues involved, but said that her office remained in discussions with Linkedin on the matter.
Ms Dixon said that she would remain Europe's "lead" regulator for Facebook, Linkedin and Google despite attempts by other European regulators to "assert" jurisdiction.
