Limerick homes hit by major flooding after water main bursts

Homes in Limerick have been hit by major flooding this morning after a water mains pipe burst.

The pipe burst some time before 5am at Brookville Avenue close in Caherdavin.

The water, which is several feet deep in places, has entered the driveways of some homes.

Limerick City and County Council is working to reduce the water.

According to the local authority, the following areas will be without water until approx 1pm: Caherdavin, Brookville Avenue, Woodview Park, Cratloe Road, Brookville Gardens and Limerick Institute of Technology.

Motorists have been asked to exercise extreme caution in the area.
