THEY signed up for a thrill – but the adults and children got a little more than they bargained for when they climbed aboard a chair-o-plane at an amusement park yesterday evening.
The six people on board, believed to be two mums and their four children, were left dangling 52m (171ft) off the ground for almost an hour and a half after the contraption shut down.
The drama unfolded at around 7.30pm yesterday at Tramore Amusement Park in Co Waterford.
Two women and four children – who were reportedly from Co Tyrone – were on the ride when it stopped.
The families were stuck around 52 metres from the ground for an estimated 80 minutes.
A rescue operation was immediately launched. Gardai and two ambulances were called but their services were not needed.
The last two 'passengers' were brought down to ground at 8.50pm.
"It was a 10-year-old and a woman, so I think it was a mother with her daughter," an eyewitness told the Irish Independent.
