Last night’s two winning Lotto Jackpot tickets sharing €12.3m were sold in Westmeath and Donegal.

The National Lottery revealed the winning Jackpot tickets, worth €6,172,404 each, were sold in Mickey Joe’s Country Store, Umlagh, Carrigart, Co Donegal and the Topaz Service Station, Dublin Road, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Both tickets were from the Quick Pick plays.

The winning numbers were: 3, 7, 17, 21, 22 and 28. The bonus number was 2.

The National Lottery are advising people to check their tickets to see if their numbers came out.

This mega Jackpot almost matched the biggest Lotto win so far this year of €12.85 million won by a syndicate from Dublin on March 1.

The money has rolled over every week since then.

Store manager of the Topaz Service Station, Paula Keegan, said they are thrilled to have sold the winning Quick Pick.

"This is the first time we have sold such a large winning ticket. This is a busy shop with lots of passing trade so while we would love if the winner was a local it is a possibility that the ticket was purchased by someone passing through," she said.

Mickey Joe’s Country Store’s manager, Michael Gallagher said that they are very excited about the win.

"It was really exciting for the shop and really exciting for the area," Mr Gallagher told Independent.ie.

"We just heard about it a little while ago, a gentleman from the National Lottery phoned us. Nobody had come in to claim it beforehand."

Speaking of the shop’s past successes, Gallagher said:  “We had somebody get on winning streak a few months ago. We’ve also had smaller winners, but nothing in the millions. There’s a lot of tourists that come to the area so hopefully that’ll attract them.”

National Lottery Chief Executive, Dermot Griffin, said: “There will be some very happy players today when they check their tickets and realise they have had a life-changing win.”

“We are delighted that the Jackpot was shared. It is a huge amount of money that will make a difference to the winner’s lives. With so many winners from Saturday it is so important that everybody checks their tickets to see if they hold winning numbers.

“We are looking forward to meeting the big Jackpot winners in National Lottery headquarters in the next few days,” he said.

Since the win in March, an estimated €15 million has been raised for the Good Causes, with around one third of all National Lottery ticket sales going towards the fund.
