Two staff members at a residential care home were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, it has been reported.

The arrests followed claims of abuse at Lisnisky Care Home in Portadown, Co Armagh.

An elderly male resident is in hospital after sustaining a number of injuries, BBC NI reported last night.

The staff members were released on police bail after being questioned.

Several staff members have been suspended, it is understood.

The PSNI said their investigation into the alleged incident on April 14 is at an early stage.

Lisnisky Care Home is owned by the Four Seasons Health Care Group.

The group said it would be wrong to comment on an ongoing investigation.

In a statement to the BBC, it added that they wanted to give “an assurance that appropriate measures are being taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, which is always our first consideration”.

It added: “These include an increased level of monitoring and management oversight.”
