A woman has died following a fatal road collision.

The 78-year-old woman died after a two car collision in North County Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 3pm, on the Coast Road, in Malahide.

The woman was fatally injured when the car in which she was travelling in collided with another vehicle.

She was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. A post mortem is expected to take place in the coming days.

A 79-year-old man was also taken to Beaumont Hospital but his injuries have been as “non-life threatening”.

Two women, aged 22 and 59, in the second vehicle were also taken to Beaumont Hospital with non serious injuries.

Gardai in Swords are investigating and have asked for witnesses to contact them at Swords Garda Station on 01 666 4700 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
