Inmates to get more training opportunities
A SCHEME to provide offenders in a Dublin jail with educational and work training opportunities is being rapidly expanded.
It is expected that more than four out of five inmates at Wheatfield prison will be involved in activities by the end of the year.
Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald disclosed yesterday that a new work and training building would be open in the jail in September and this would boost the programme for prisoners. She made the announcement during a visit to Wheatfield to mark the 25th anniversary of its opening.
