Heroic firefighters deliver baby Eva in the back of an ambulance

A baby girl was delivered by firefighter paramedics last night in the back of an ambulance.

Paramedics from Swords were called to assist a woman in labour last night at around 3am.

The ambulance was en route to the hospital when the woman went into the final stages of labour.

The baby girl was delivered by firefighter paramedics Barry Holohan and Steve McNally at 3:10am.

The baby is named Eva and her parents said they were 'delighted' for her story to be shared.

The Swords fire brigade offered their congratulations to the family.
