Gardai investigate 'suspicious death' after man's body found in woods

An investigation is underway following the discovery of a man's body in woods in Co Kildare.

The remains were found late last night by people walking in Rahan Woods, Carbury.

Gardai say they are treating the death as suspicious.

The man's remains were found partially buried in the ground.

The area has been sealed off and Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster is expected to arrive at the scene soon to conduct a preliminary investigation.

The man's identity is not known at this stage but he is believed to be in his twenties.

Gardai are checking missing persons files in the hope of identifying the man.

Gardaí in Leixlip, Co Kildare are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.

A case conference is due to be held this evening.
