A female cyclist is believed to have been raped by a man after being pulled into an area of parkland in Clondalkin in west Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
The victim has been taken to hospital and the area where the alleged attack took place has been sealed off by gardai.
The incident occurred at around 3am on the Ninth Lock Road near the junction with the Neilstown Road.
The area is at the edge of a section of parkland beside some bushes and just off the footpath.
Local reports say the woman was believed to have been pushing her bike or cycling past at the time when she was allegedly dragged into the park by a number of people.
The extent of her injuries is not known.
Gardai placed a large piece of white plastic sheeting on the ground at the site stretching from the footpath, over a low wall, and into the park.
Members of the garda technical bureau arrived at the scene before 9am and when they removed the plastic sheeting the victim's bicycle could be seen lying against the low wall.
It was placed in a garda van for further technical examination.
The area of the park inside the wall was then examined by gardai.
