Four teenagers injured in house explosion

Four teenagers were injured in an explosion in a house in Drogheda this evening.

The blast occurred in a house in Marian Park in the Co Louth town, shortly after 4pm.

The four girls, who are understood to be aged between 12 and 14, have been taken to hospital with burns injuries from an exploding aerosol can.

They were inititally taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Drogheda but have since been transferred to hospital in Dublin.

It is understood that their injuries are not life threatening.

The girls were reportedly in an upstairs bedroom in the house when the explosion occurred.

Several units from the local fire brigade attended the scene, as well as members of the ambulance and gardai.
