Firefighters battle blaze on bus in housing estate

Firefighters in Cork are battling a blaze on a Bus Eireann bus in a housing estate.

Dramatic pictures, shared by the Neil Prendeville Show on RedFm, show the vehicle on fire in Glen Heights, Ballyvolane.


An eye witness told the station that there were no injuries in the fire.

Independent.ie can confirm there were no passengers on the bus at the time.

Emergency services have dealt with the incident and are still at the scene.

Motorists are being advised to proceed with caution in the area.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. 

"Bus Éireann can confirm that a fire occurred on one of its vehicles in Cork this morning at approximately 11.30 on Route 207A," they confirmed in a statement to Independent.ie

"We are currently investigating the cause."
