The child's father was caught by UK police offering to abuse his daughter live on webcam while his wife was out shopping.

The incident, which took place in a rural Irish town, saw the child's father make contact through an internet chatroom with a person he believed shared his interest in sexual activity with infants, in reality he was in contact with an undercover police officer.

Gardaí immediately called to the home, arrested the man and seized computer equipment containing images of child pornography.

The child was placed with foster carers under an Interim Care Order.

While her mother opposed a Care Order application, the judge granted it, stating the court was satisfied that she continued to have contact with her husband despite her denials.

Neither parent is Irish and they no longer live in the country. The father left the jurisdiction following his arrest.

The case heard claims the mother, who was 18 when she had her daughter, was under the influence of her husband who had groomed her as a child and could not guarantee the child's safety if she was returned to her.
